“The airport facilities are good. Whether justied or not , too long a distance for bus service between the terminal 1 and terminal 4. The check in process was good but a bit of disorder in the passport control area”

The employees at the Lufthansa counter were very very agressive and unfriendly. I had to print my own e-ticket, choose my seat, which is no problem, if the employee would explain how. She was talking with 3 people at the same time which was completely unprofessional.
The airport services were excellent, the metro was great once you understood how it worked. the bus drivers in Spain are the rudest most unhelpful people I have ever met. they went so far as to shut the doors on me and drive off, because I did not move quickly, or not allow me to put my luggage on the bus from the hotel to go to the airport. I had to lug my luggage around from metro to metro to get to the airport.
The customs officers where extremely polite!
A very quick, efficient and free service, providing a shuttle between terminals
Reviews of services: I travelled with my two teenage sons and had to wait several hours between flights so I had to ensure that my boys were fed properly. I feel unhappy about the irritation I encountered from one of the catering staff in one of the main eating areas in the vicinity of gates A & B in Terminal 1. I tried hard to communicate, but my Spanish is not very good. I had misunderstood what I was supposed to do when ordering a cup of tea and I was made to feel like an idiot for picking up the wrong cup. I’d spent quite a lot, not that this should make any difference. The cashier was also not very polite and the food was only luke-warm. This spoiled the final stages of what for us had been a particularly good holiday
The only problem I had was with the Iberia check in. As they have a number of flights checking in at the same desks it takes a long time and I missed my flight because of it. There was no desk for ‘Closing Flights’. I was late at the airport due to the train timetable not being accurate. Because there was no desk for late check in I missed my flight – had to spend 120 euro for the flight the next day and accommodation in Madrid.
taxis refused to drive to hotel because of short distance but metro is cheap and easy
I found it a bit silly that in this day and age airports like this seem to be deserted of people willing to help. The arilines personel seem to be a rarity after certain hours of the day.
The lady at the Customer Information desk was most helpful, unfortunately the service of parcels delivery I required was miles well and truly away from the airport.
At least at customs they were more helpful and less agresive
Probably one of the worst airports I use; very spartan. No decent seats to sit on; Nowhere to eat and drink except 2, identical self service counter which offers very little
“not expected to change terminals. too much walking and carrying suitcases. Terminal 4 much too big
I arrived from Brussels, waited in the baggage hall for nearly an hour, with no indication on the screen which belt to use. Eventually we found that we had to go to Hall 5. There was never any indication on the screen that this was necessary. I missed my next flight because of this appalling lack of information that could easily have been provided
Security as always very busy and passport control had only one desk open!! Latecomers were pushing through the queue constantly to get to their flight so queues were very slow moving, get there early!
Taxi: Usual Madrid taxis, they are quick to rip off tourists so be clear of the routes to the airport and don’t be afraid to comment if you appear to be going on a detour
Services: Very little open for early morning flights, we had a dubious looking croque monsieur (either that or a cold sandwich or croissant) Terminal 2 is quite spread out but the business lounge is very accomodating for the essential morning coffee
