Some appreciated being able to take bags on the plane, for example, this customer flying Air France between Dublin (DUB) and London City (LCY) said “I appreciate that nobody is measuring the hand luggage of everyone before the flight.”

On the other hand, one person travelling British Airways between Heathrow (LHR) and Amsterdam (AMS) seemed to prefer bags to remain in the hold – “passengers go on with too much baggage inside the aircraft”. So what do people think of paying to check bags in? Another BA customer was “Delighted there was no charge for checked in luggage” on their journey between Geneva (GVA) and Heathrow.

One big advantage to carrying your bags on the plane is the lack of wait at the end. But with some airlines, customers felt they got the best of both worlds. “Very impressed with the speed that our bag came out at both ends” was the verdict on a Lufthansa flight between London Heathrow and Milan (MXP).

Since Terminal 5 is exclusively used by British Airways, our customers who flew with this airline to and from Heathrow were in a good position to tell us. And there were very mixed reviews…

One customer, travelling from Heathrow to Zurich, said “”this was my first experience of Terminal 5, and I was very impressed.” However, another, who had used the terminal before, was not so enthusiastic, saying “I still find Terminal 5 confusing. I had a pre-printed boarding pass and only hand baggage but still had to ask where to go.”

On the Rome Fiumicini to Heathrow flight, one traveller enthused that “it was pleasant to arrive at Terminal 5 in London, reserved for BA flights only, as it is a pleasant and well-designed terminal.”

“Pearson is my “home” airport so I am very familiar with it. Terminal 1 is new and shiny and quite confusing even for a native. The biggest problem is luggage retrieval: it often takes an hour or more to collect your suitcases.”
